What to ask when you call

Not sure what a good answer sounds like? See how to find a duck vet.

  • Say it is a duck right away — their site doesn’t say they treat waterfowl, so ask whether anyone there does.
  • Ask for the exam fee up front, and what bloodwork or X-rays add on top.
  • Ask whether they are taking new avian patients.
  • Ask where they send after-hours emergencies. The nearest 24-hour clinic we list is VEG Lincoln Park, 10 miles away.
